Hi all My Red Group Runners,

How do you Feel?  You better know the answer by now. Some of you might be wondering why I start our runs off this way or why when were out and about you’ll hear my greeting to runners passing by, How do you feel? That’s what I want to write to you about today. I call it language reframing. I know that early Saturday morning you probably don’t feel “Better than Ever” but have you started to notice, your attitude picks up a bit, you put a smile on your face. Have you noticed those passing runners pick up their stride and put a smile on their face, do you feel the charge they provide when they respond “Better than Ever”?

We are funny creatures, human beings, we have the power to lift someone else up with a kind word or thought and change their whole day and yet when it come to ourselves we can say some of the darnest things. On our run this past Saturday, I heard you say all kinds of things. “I didn’t do my home work this week so this is my punishment”,  “I am really slow” or “I’ll never be that good”.

I know you really don’t mean some of the thing that come out of your mouth, but studies have shown that your brain (ego) doesn’t know the difference. Your ego or identity will come up with all kinds of reason why you shouldn’t get up and run on an early Saturday morning or do your training runs during the week. If you say some of these things long enough you will find a reason to stay in bed one Saturday morning and never come back to Hospitality Point.

Rreframing your running language in a positive manner increases the probability of your success.

Start to reframe your langauge, when you start to think or say something derogatory about yourself or training or running, stop, think and say “how would Biff say it?

Change “I am slow runner” to “I’m a great runner, I’m getting stronger”.
Change
“This is my punishment”  to “I am a Marathoner and training is a part of my life”
Change “I had a bad run today” to Wow, I completed another training run, I am getting stronger”
Change
“I’m tired” to “I’m running today there is Joy out on there to be discovered”

Start to notice some of your own thoughts and share the reframes with the rest of us at www.webeuler.com/blog I would really like to see your reframes maybe I could borrow some of yours for my own life
